Hello, I’m…
Vheonix
I’m aspiring to become a licensed architect in the future. I graduated with my undergraduate degree and studied for another three years for my Doctor of Architecture.
Honestly, developing an interest in architecture came with time and the story is different for everyone. For me, my ”pre-development” phase was an interest in drawing, legos, and laying out the perfect city I want with a free computer game. I was definitely a visual learner while growing up.
The development of my interest also ran in the family. My dad being a contractor, my siblings- are engineers, and my stepbrother- a former architecture student. My stepbrother and my dad introduced me to architecture as they took note of my interest in drawing. Since high school, they taught me how to read building plans. Since then, my interest took off.
Achieving an Architecture degree will challenge you, and demand a lot of your time. Though, it’s worth it when the intent is to create places that will benefit the user. You can do this!
If you come to ask, why is this blog called ”Introvert Designer”?
Yes. It is a reflection of me. I’ve grown in a conservative Asian household – I was shy until I warm up to people and learned to respect those of authority. Even though I was soft-spoken, I was never shy when it came to showing my creative side. So let me tell you, my fellow introverts. Do not take sh*t from anyone. There will be individuals that would downgrade your potential because you are soft-spoken. I have struggled through this in architecture and the constant feeling of competition, but I wouldn’t be where I am if I had a good support system – my family and my close friends.
The important thing that no one talks about in the Architecture lifestyle is improving your mentality and your well-being. Create a better version of yourself- continue to educate yourself, practice, and apply your potential. If you are really interested in architecture, drive that passion from your mind and communicate that passion as you speak to others.
